1. Maybe it's time for me to stop listening to audiobooks, because The Problem with Forever was yet another audiobook that STUNK.
I'm going to review this 2-star read, but I hated it. It was a 14-hour long audiobook, so I can't figure out why I insisted on finishing it (I am really stubborn about DNF-ing books) but I finally made it through this one, even though I started it before Thanksgiving. It took me almost three months to make it through this audiobook, and that's with 15 hours of driving that I did between Thanksgiving and when I moved back to Charlotte. Yeesh.
But this time I am adamant that it wasn't the narrator. I thought Amy Landon did a delightful job with the material she was given. It was just crappy material.
2. We are trying Blue Apron this week.
I don't really know what I was thinking. I like very basic food, because it's easier to stock a fridge when your meals are all five ingredients or less. Cheese and crackers for dinner? Sure. Breaded chicken with pasta and veggies? Let's go for it.
Pan-seared chicken with kale, apple, potato and onion hash and pan sauce? Welp. Here are my complaints:
- Something was up with the onion. It didn't look right, so I tossed it – not risking it if I also have to eat kale.
- There was enough kale to carpet our bedroom in kale. It was a hecking lot of kale. I have never consumed this much kale in my entire life. (This reminds me of the time I offended the owner of a restaurant in San Francisco when I declined to eat her vegan cheesy kale chips with cashew salsa. VOM.)
- The chicken breast was super thick, and I should've pounded it a little thinner so it cooked through before the outside of the chicken burned.
- I burned the pan sauce, which was apparently the highlight of the dish, and filled the entire apartment with thick chicken-y smoke.
3. I am obsessed with getting an Apple Watch, even though I can't decide if I would even use one.
Target has an AMAZING Apple Watch deal right now, marking it down by $70. I want it. Oh, I want it. Would I use it? Does that matter? I want one!
4. I haven't been reading as much as I'd like to this week, but I'm still trying to keep up... here's what is in my TBR pile right now.
- Modern Romance by Aziz Ansari
- The Female of the Species by Mindy McGinnis
- The Possessions By Sara Flannery Murphy
- Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo
- Modern Lovers by Emma Straub (thanks for encouraging me to put this one on hold at the library, Kelsey!)
- Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
- The Animators by Kayla Rae Whitaker
